About NIMD/Regional Office in the Eastern European Neighborhood

The Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) is founded by seven Dutch political parties in 2000 in order to assist political parties in new and developing democracies. NIMD’s vision is to support multiparty political systems and capacity building for political parties and political groupings to sustain stable, pluralistic democracies. Through its support, NIMD aims to contribute to deepening and sustaining democratic political institutions in young democracies.

The regional office in the Eastern European Neighborhood is based in Tbilisi, Georgia and is currently working in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine where it implements programs focused on strengthening democratic political actors, enhancing democratic political culture and improving political systems. While doing so, NIMD EEN focuses on gender equality and minority participation and representation in politics. A special focus is also placed on introducing new approaches and technological solutions of enhancing democratic practices.

Work portfolio:

●       Coordinating the activities of Democracy Schools and of respective Democracy School Coordinators;

●       Leading the implementation of the training curricula by liaising with program lecturers, trainers and other partners;

●       Contributing to the development of the training curricula;

●       Maintaining the alumni network database and liaising with the alumni of Democracy Schools;

●       Organizing (regional and national) conferences, seminars and bilateral meetings with political parties, civil society and media as required by NIMD’s ongoing programming;

●       Contributing to the development of funding proposals, programmatic reports and monitoring and evaluation assessments of the program and the organization;

●       Maintaining the social media channels of Democracy Education Program;

●       Producing relevant articles and feature stories pertaining to programmatic activities for the NIMD website;

●       Serving as a practical contact and communication liaison to program related stakeholders - political parties, CSOs and media;

●       Contributing to monthly and annual activity reports detailing the NIMD activities;

●       Attending and reporting on meetings of relevance to NIMD;

●       Keeping up with day-to-day political developments in Georgia;

●       Carrying out administrative work related to the management and coordination of the program;

●       Serving as a programmatic focal point for the staff of the organization;

●       Performing the other duties as required related to the implementation of the program and the realization of organizational objectives

Required skills and competencies in the course of implementing general and specific duties defined above:

Educational and professional requirements:


●       MA degree in social sciences (politics, international relations background preferred);

●       At least 2 years of experience in the nonprofit sector;

●       Excellent professional writing skills in Georgian;

●       Excellent command of English;

●       Working command of Russian desirable;

●       Teamworker;

●       Strong interest in politics and democratization;

●       Prior volunteering and social work experience is an asset.



Skills and competencies


●       Knowledge and experience in training program development and political education fields;

●       Knowledge and experience with the Georgian and international NGO sector;

●       Knowledge of Georgia’s political system and political landscape;

●       Proposal writing, project planning, monitoring and evaluation skills;

●       Politically sensitive and impartial;

●       Reliable and a  punctual worker, able to meet deadlines and work in a multitasking environment;

●       Good communicator and team member;

●       Able to work independently and without immediate supervision;

●       Ability and willingness to travel extensively;

Reporting: the Programme Officer will function under the supervision of NIMDs Representative in the Eastern European Neighborhood.
